“So nerdy, we call it ‘a Lord of the Rings ring,’ instead of the One Ring, like nerds would. But we’re nerdy. Have we gotten that across yet? Nerdy, audience. See how nerdy we are. We’re nerds.”

Perfect example of why I can’t get myself to like this show. It’s a ham-fisted caricature of nerds and geeks created by people who aren’t nerds or geeks.

And the laugh track (real or otherwise) doesn’t help.

Speaking of Fringe, what about erasing Peter from existence made all the government vehicles change from Fords to Nissans? :P

(Yeah, I know, just a change of sponsors, but funny.)

I finally finished my epic rewatching of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. It did so many things so well, once it hit its stride, but the thing I loved most was how willing it was to compromise its characters. To render them entirely in shades of gray so that even they couldn’t recognize the person in the mirror.

It was the Star Trek Gene Roddenberry never would’ve given you. It was the Star Trek that put away childish things.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Season Six, “In the Pale Moonlight”.

One of my favorite episodes of DS9, and by far the most memorable.
